General FAQs

Visiting a new dentist can be a daunting experience and if your child has been referred to us they may already be apprehensive about treatment. Our dentist needs to establish a rapport with your child before commencing treatment so we always ensure the first visit is relaxed and positive for your child. As treatment options may vary we also need time to speak with the parents to discuss the best option for your child and provide you with a detailed treatment plan.

Our dentists perform Anaesthetics at a range of hospitals: currently, these include Sunshine Private Hospital in St Albans, Sydenham Day Surgery in Sydenham, and Wyndham Day Surgery at Werribee. These locations provide the safest location for children and we only use specialist paediatric anaesthetics.

Not at this time. We have a list of specialist orthodontists that we can refer you to. Please contact us for more information.

Yes, we do offer happy gas if it is deemed a suitable treatment option for your child.

Nitrous oxide is a gas, commonly known as ‘happy gas’ or ‘laughing gas’. Giving nitrous oxide is a way to help reduce a child’s discomfort and anxiety during dental treatment. Your child will breathe the gas through a small nose piece that sits on their nose.

Nitrous oxide makes children feel sleepy and relaxed, but they remain aware of what is happening around them. They may feel dreamy, floaty and warm. They may have tingling in their hands and feet and may be a bit forgetful.

Nitrous oxide is only suitable for use in some children. This option will be discussed during your first visit.
